Nail Fungus

Nail Fungus, what is that and how do you get it? An infection of nail fungus occurs when fungi infect one or more of your nails. A nail fungal infection may begin as a white or yellow spot under the tip of your fingernail or toenail. As the nail fungus spreads deeper into your nail, it may cause your nail to discolor, thicken and develop crumbling edges — an unsightly and potentially painful problem. These infections usually develop on nails continually exposed to warm, moist environments, such as sweaty shoes or shower floors. Nail fungus isn't the same as athlete's foot, which primarily affects the skin of the feet, but at times the two may coexist and can be caused by the same type of fungus. An infection with nail fungus may be difficult to treat, and infections may recur. But medications are available to help clear up nail fungus. For more information about how to clear up nail fungus visit: Nail Fungus Treatment

Fungi are microscopic organisms that don't need sunlight to survive. Some fungi have beneficial uses, while others cause illness and infection. Nail fungal infections are typically caused by a fungus that belongs to a group of fungi called dermatophytes. But yeasts and molds also can be responsible for nail fungal infections.

All of these microscopic organisms live in warm, moist environments, including swimming pools and showers. They can invade your skin through tiny invisible cuts or through a small separation between your nail and nail bed. They cause problems only if your nails are continually exposed to warmth and moisture — conditions perfect for the growth and spread of fungi.Infection with nail fungus occurs more in toenails than in fingernails because toenails are often confined in a dark, warm, moist environment inside your shoes — where fungi can thrive.

Another reason may be the diminished blood circulation to the toes as compared with the fingers, which makes it harder for your body's immune system to detect and eliminate the infection. For more information visit: Nail Fungus Treatment

Dealing with Metatarsal Problems

No title

Trauma: Fractures are the result of trauma. Vehicle accidents, falls, sports injuries and violence are common trauma-related causes of fracture. Traumatic fractures can be displaced or nondisplaced. If the fracture is displaced, the bone is broken in such a way that it has changed in position (dislocated).

Metatarsal fractures range from very minor to severe injuries. It depends on the pattern of injury and the amount of displacement of the fracture. Metatarsal fractures are also common, especially the base of the 5th metatarsal. They usually heal well without the need for surgery, however, there is an area of the 5th metatarsal which is notorious for non-healing. Metatarsal fractures are the most common foot injury, with many sufferers in professional sport every year. Many famous athletes have suffered metatarsal fracture, with David Beckham and Wayne Rooney leading the list in the ranks of professional footballers.

Jones fracture : These fractures sometimes take a longer time to heal. A stress fracture can be treated with a removable cast boot or cast worn for 6 to 8 weeks. Jones fractures occur in a small area of the fifth metatarsal that receives less blood and is therefore more prone to injury. A Jones fracture can be either a stress fracture (a tiny hairline break that occurs over time) or an acute (sudden) break. Jones fracture , on the other hand, involves the shaft of the fifth metatarsal and usually does not heal well. Jones Fracture is of this type and requires surgery to position the bones. Bone scans are helpful in this situation. Recognition of fracture is crucial to guide appropriate management and to prevent complications. Bone stimulators are sometimes used to heal fractures once they are diagnosed as delayed or nonhealing, your doctor will have to decide whether or not you will be a candidate for that specific modality.

Metatarsal stress fractures may not be visible on initial x-rays and it may be necessary to perform a further investigation such as a CT or bone scan. Stress must be re-introduced gradually. Stress fractures of the proximal fifth metatarsal must be distinguished from proximal avulsion fractures ("pseudo-Jones" fractures) and Jones fractures. The proximal avulsion fracture is usually associated with a lateral ankle strain and occurs at the insertion of the peroneus brevis tendon.

Metatarsalgia of the 2nd metatarsal bone and predislocation syndrome in general are terrible problems. There are no easy solutions if a cortisone injection or two do not help you. Metatarsal stress fracture may not become apparent on x-rays until a few weeks after the injury. Metatarsalgia is a general term used to denote a painful foot condition in the metatarsal region of the foot (the area just before the toes, more commonly referred to as the ball-of-the-foot). This is a common foot disorder that can affect the bones and joints at the ball-of-the-foot.

Metatarsal stress fracture may not become apparent on x-rays until a few weeks after the injury. Metatarsalgia is used as a catch all term for pain in the ball of the foot. Although faulty foot mechanics is considered the most common reason for development of pain in this area, trauma, infection, repetitive stress, arthritis and previous foot surgery could also contribute to pain in this area. Metatarsalgia is a common overuse injury described as pain in the forefoot associated with increased stress over the metatarsal head region. Metatarsalgia often is referred to as a symptom, rather than as a specific disease.

Genital Warts In Men

Male genital warts are a sexually transmitted disease that can be painful.  What genital warts do is cause warts to form in the genital area.  It is often known as HPV and can be very dangerous if it goes untreated.  Genital warts can occur in both men and women.  They can appear around the vagina, penis, anus, and even sometimes around the mouth.  Male genital warts are not the same kind of warts that are found elsewhere on the body.

Symptoms of male genital warts can include sore and blisters around the genitals as well as pain in urination.  Sometimes they can even cause flu like symptoms as well as severe headaches and back pain.  There have been some reported cases from sufferers of genital warts of abdominal pain as well as a discharge from the penis.

If you feel that you are coming down with symptoms of male genital warts it is very important that you see your doctor.  Often time’s people will think that their genital warts are only a rash.  If the case is male genital warts it is important that you stop all sexual activity and begin treatments as soon as possible.

Male genital warts are also termed HSV.  HSV has two different types.  Type 1 HSV is found around the area of the mouth, while Type 2 HSV appears in the genital region.

If you suffer from male genital warts they can grow if they are not treated.  If you do suffer it is likely that you will pass the warts to your partner if you are sexually active.

There are certain kinds of genital warts that can cause abnormal cell growth.  These abnormal cells can become cancerous cells if they are not treated.  Female genital warts can cause cancer in the vulva, vagina, and the anus, while male genital warts can cause cancer in the penis and the anus.

Keep in mind that their currently is no cure for male genital warts.  The good news is that there are many treatments and medications that can help with genital warts.

With male genital warts symptoms can reoccur.  Because this is the case it is important that you do not have sex with someone who is also showing symptoms of genital warts.

There are some cases where a man doesn’t even realize that he has male genital warts.  The reason for this is that the symptoms can be mild, and most will think that they only have a rash.  If you begin to develop even a rash in the genital area check with your doctor to make sure that you have not come down with male genital warts.

The Nightmare of the Bad Breath Smell!

What To Do About Bad Breath

What a nightmare to find yourself in an up close and personal conversation with someone and discover suddenly that they have foul smelling breath. You can almost become sick to your stomach thinking you have to continue this conversation and god knows, you can't make some kind of horrible face about it.

The disgusting smell evokes an almost involuntary response.  This is an extremely difficult situation to be in and most people simply want to run away from the offensive odor as quick as possible.  Bad breath, or halitosis, is very nasty for anyone to deal with but it is important that is dealt with on all levels both personally and as a relative, friend or co-worker of an individual with this problem.

Being A Responsible Person

So, what can possibly be done about this bad breath situation? Firstly, each person needs to act responsibly about performing good oral hygiene and taking proper care of their teeth so that bad breath can be prevented. It is just common courtesy to not cause other friends or co-workers to have to suffer because of your laziness or lack of personal care.

Anyone who suspects or knows that they have a problem with halitosis, or bad breath, should recognize this fact and take care of the problem the best that they can.  If they aren't able to handle the problem on their own then they should definitely seek out a good dentist or doctor for professional help. Many times, the bad breath smell is actually from Dry Mouth; a not uncommon problem.

Let Others Know

If you are in a situation where you are faced with speaking to or dealing with another person who has bad breath, it is important that you try to advise this individual, rather than try to run away from the situation.  Occasionally a person has some kind of medical problem that causes the bad breath and they may not even have a clue about the odor or the medical problem. Be letting someone know they have bad breath smell you could actually be saving that persons life. Even though it will be an uncomfortable conversation, it is important enough that you do it.

One simple way to get the conversation started is by offering the person a breath mint or piece of gum and gently as possible, let them know that they may need to see a doctor and find out what the problem is.  Or you could bring up the subject of halitosis, or bad breath and talk about how serious a medical problem it can be and then offer the gum or mint.  Most people should get a clue from this. Others will require a very direct conversation where you tell them outright that they have bad breath and need to do something about it.  Although it can be embarassing and difficult it is something that must be done, especially if this is a co-worker that you have become friendly with. Suppose it was you and you were up for a big promotion. Wouldn't you want to know before you went in to meet with the boss?

Dealing with Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy is treatment with anti-cancer drugs, given to destroy or control cancer cells. A single drug may be given or several different drugs may be given together. Chemotherapy medications, regardless of how they're given, generally travel in your bloodstream and throughout your entire body. The intravenous route is the most common, allowing chemotherapy drugs to spread quickly through your system.

Chemotherapy is usually administered for approximately 6-12 months or until a patient achieves a plateau response or stable disease, especially if the therapy is well tolerated. When used as induction therapy, usually 3 or 4 cycles are given prior to collection of stem cells. Chemotherapy is delivered many different ways depending on the drugs and treatment. Intravenous means delivered by inserting a needle in a vein, orally is by mouth, and via catheter or port is by a tube inserted into the chest via a surgical procedure. Chemotherapy can make you feel tired. This fatigue may or may not worsen as you are treated with more cycles of chemotherapy. Obviously that is when understanding chemotherapy treatment and Chemotherapy drugs is pretty important

Chemotherapy usually has some effect on the immune system. With many chemotherapy protocols, it is not unusual for the oncologist to delay a cycle if a patients white count is below a certain level. Chemotherapy drugs take longer to have a complete effect, sometimes several weeks or up to a few months. Because they alter the immune response that causes the disease, they can slow down significantly and sometimes stop the course of the rheumatic disease for which they are prescribed.

Cell types that are normally rapidly dividing, such as those in the bone marrow and in the lining of the intestine, tend to be hardest hit. Death of the normal cells produces some of the common side-effects of chemotherapy. Cells grow by dividing. Chemotherapy works by damaging cancer cells that are dividing.

Drugs are combined so that there are few overlapping side effects, to make the treatment more tolerable. These combinations are then tested in clinical trials to see how effective they are. Drugs can be given and blood samples can be taken through them. Drugs affect "younger" tumors (i.e. With succeeding generations of tumor cells, differentiation is typically lost, growth becomes less regulated, and tumors become less responsive to most chemotherapeutic agents.

Cancer is a disease characterised by important metabolic alterations. Not only these adaptative changes give higher proliferative capacity to cancer cells, but they also contribute to higher resistance to chemotherapeutic agents. Cancers are made up of fast-growing cells. Other fast-growing cells, such as the cells that make up hair follicles, are also affected.

Ask your doctor and nurse any questions you may have about chemotherapy. Also don't hesitate to tell them about any side effects you may have.

Chemotherapy drugs are given intravenously, by injection or by mouth. Chemotherapy is often used alone, or in conjunction with radiation therapy or surgery. Chemotherapy drugs work by interfering with the ability of cancer cells to divide and reproduce themselves. Chemotherapy can be delivered by the bloodstream to reach cancer cells all over the body, or it can be administered directly to specific cancer sites.

How To Improve Vision Swiftly And Simply

Rather than beating around the bush, I choose to nose-dive immediately into how to improve vision.

There are 3 sections to the natural strategy to improve vision. If you neglect any of them, it would critically obstruct your attempt. On the other hand, if you accomplish all three of them, your growth can be very fast.

Here are the 3 parts:

1. Vision habits.

2. Eye strengthening exercises.

3. Eye supplements.

The answer to get the hang of the vision habits of part 1 are the eye exercises. If you grasp the proper vision habits, and you see the way you're supposed to see, then you will get precise eyesight.

The eye exercises are intended to help you get the hang of a few of the vision habits and toughen your eye muscles.
The supplements help your body change to the correct vision habits and accelerates recovery.

Eye strengthening exercises are multifaceted and involves graphical representation to explain so I'll not be going through them at this time. You can grasp more in relation to them from the Rebuild Your Vision Program.

What I'm intending to explore into are the vision habits. I will reveal how to rebuild your vision. With that in mind, let's get started.

1. Put aside as a minimum 20 minutes to half an hour a day to "sun". Sunning can easily be accomplished by closing your eyes and facing the sun while turning your face left and right.
Sunning is a good technique to unwind your eyes and will certainly facilitate improve vision.

2. Don't look intently. You are most inclined to this when you're reading a book or watching a movie. Remember to blink when you catch yourself gawking at something.

3. Palm everytime you catch your eyes are fatigued. Palming is straightforward to execute. All you do is set your palm on your eyes in such a way that your fingers extend beyond each other.
Bear in mind not to *push* your eyes, merely "cup" it.

4. Meditate no less than 3 time a week, 10 minutes every time. Meditation rests not just your eyes but also your body.

Obviously, these are just a small amount of preview of vision habits. There are a handful more habits for you to learn. You can find out more information on how to improve vision on my Rebuild Your Vision Naturally blog.
